Our daughter, Macaylie, began dancing at age 4. I must admit that I really had no idea how important dance would become to her. Now age 9 Macaylie dances several days a week in a variety of classes ranging from classical ballet to hip hop. Dance has enriched her life tremendously. Her balance and strength are developed far beyond the level of her non-dancing friends. It has taught her the importance of focus and teamwork while still allowing for her individual accomplishments to stand out. I am truly impressed by the high level, professional dance instructors that Greater York attracts from both inside and outside of our community. In fact when we researched Greater York Dance, it stood alone in this respect. I was also amazed at the range of classes that are offered by this studio, from the little ones to adult classes, there is no other dance studio in the area that offers what it does. Macaylie lives to dance now, it's at the forefront of most of her thoughts; moreover she is growing into a beautiful, strong and centered young lady in part because of the physical and mental skills learned at Greater York Dance.

My daughter, Elena, just volunteered to introduce a song at her holiday band concert in front of an audience. She informed me that she never feels nervous speaking in front of groups. I feel that her experiences at the dance studio and performing brought out a confidence in her that is much more far reaching than I would have expected. I believe the lessons she learns at Greater York Dance will give her grace, confidence and memories that will stay with her for a lifetime.

My oldest daughter began dancing with GYCDE 10 years ago. Having never had a child in any dance program before,I didn't know what to expect. I was extremely impressed with the professionalism and their desire to give the children(even the smallest ones) a strong foundation in dance. Over the years, I have been able to watch my daughter and her friends become beautiful dancers--but most importantly beautiful teenagers with respect for others and themselves. I am constantly amazed with their dance on the stage; however,most impressive is the discipline that I see in these young girls. As a father, I believe that the values and respect for one another are invaluable lessons these girls are learning. I credit GYCDE as being a piece of the puzzle in the successful raising of my children. One of our favorite memories will always be that I have been able to play the role of Drosselmeyer in GYCDE's production of the Nutcracker. I have had the privilege to share the stage with all of the members of this large cast,and the pleasure of dancing together with my 3 children. My youngest son enjoys his time at this dance studio as well.
I do not anticipate any of my children to have a career in dance, but I believe that their years with GYCDE will have helped to shape, guide and always be a part of who they are.

For the last 11 years, Morgan has learned a lot about the art of dance. Year after year, her skills have improved thanks to the wonderful instruction from the staff of Greater York Dance. Greater York Dance is our home away from home! Our daughter, Sofia, has been with Greater York Dance for almost five years and absolutely loves every minute of her time in the studio. Not only does she love the classes, she truly enjoys the professional instructors that GYCDE has on staff. Sofia is only at the beginning of her journey with Greater York, and we are very excited to get involved and support her in her dreams!!
