The
Greater York Youth Ballet, under the direction of Lori Pergament, provides training and performance opportunities to
aspiring dancers. Members study a variety of styles in order to gain skills and
proficiency. Most youth ballet dancers are college-bound or wish to pursue
professional careers.
Students in the Ballet/Pre-professional Division earn their place into the youth ballet through dedication, discipline, and diligent work. Opportunities expand as dancers adjust to the fast pace of learning. For serious dancers who are already highly motivated, the element of FUN is still important to us! Dancing an intense, busy schedule should be a "labor of love" in an atmosphere of learning that is both positive and motivational. Harsh words or yelling is not a part of our classroom environment. A company training program is offered as dancers begin on the Pre-professional track (from age 6 1/2).
In Fall, 2009, a performing arts component is added to the youth ballet membership where dancers who wish to excel in genres such as Musical Theatre, Hip Hop, Jazz and Contemporary may become involved and take advantage of this wonderful program.
WE INVITE INTERESTED DANCERS TO AUDITION FOR MEMBERSHIP. A conference with the Artistic Director and an audition class will be scheduled. Please inquire.
